SEQUENCER TOUR USA

Since October 2018, event partners re:publica, Reeperbahn Festival, and next media accelerator have been hosting five events in Los Angeles, Austin, New York, Portland, and Detroit. Over the course of the year, Deutschlandjahr USA will see numerous transatlantic projects, events, and workshops come to life in the US. The Year of German-American Friendship (“Deutschlandjahr USA”) is a comprehensive and collaborative initiative funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, implemented by the Goethe-Institut, and with support from the Federation of German Industries (BDI). Deutschlandjahr USA is dedicated to exploring cultural issues, as well as questions about just democracies or new avenues within media landscapes.

As one of Deutschlandjahr USA’s milestone projects, the SEQUENCER TOUR offers a platform for discussions and exchanges through a series of innovative event formats.

Why SEQUENCER TOUR? A sequence is a linear progression. In music, a sequencer plays sounds, then records and rearranges them. And exactly that is the purpose of our events: We want to bring German projects to the US, inspire one other, and jointly create a sequence of new ideas.

Each location of our tour has its own personality; every city we’ll be visiting is unique in its character, history, and community. Taken together, these events will create a sequence that will link communities, issues, and, ultimately, two continents: Welcome on Board the SEQUENCER TOUR USA!
