#rpDetroit Speaker Walter Wasacz: Access to New Economy with Community Engagement
Walter Wasacz is a Detroit-based writer, columnist, critic, editor, musical collaborator, and consultant. In late 2013 he helped launch the Detroit-Berlin Connection (DBC) with Berlin techno entrepreneur Dimitri Hegemann. The initiative is built on the inspiration that Detroit artists brought to Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The DBC has produced conferences and workshops in both Detroit and Berlin and is a strong advocate for creative industries initiatives in Detroit, citing tactics and strategies used in Berlin’s ‘no curfew/24 hour’ economy.
