Klaus Voormann shows life's work in LA

In the context of Sequencer LA Reeperbahn Festival will show Voormann's wide-ranging, award-winning graphic work from October 30 to November 3, 2018 at the artspace Navel in Los Angeles and will unite two important stages in Klaus Voormann's life – Hamburg and LA.

Not many can claim for themselves that they have actively participated in the genesis of pop culture as we know it today; Klaus Vormann can. The artistic work the musician, graphic designer, actor and author, who has been awarded several Grammies, has contributed stretches proudly across six decades: He not only created the iconic Revolver album cover for the Beatles, his bass rhythms can be heard on albums by Randy Newmann, B.B. King, Manfred Mann, Lou Reed´s “Transformer”, Carly Simon´s “You´re So Vain” and many solo projects of the Beatles’ members. He produced "Da Da Da", the only Neue Deutsche Welle world hit by Trio, and he still creates record covers for the Norwegian death punk band Turbonegro as well as for the Swedish rock band Mando Diao or the German artist Jesper Munk.

It Started in Hamburg: A title without exaggeration as the Hanseatic city was where Voormann's studied, where he took his first musical steps and had his first jobs as graphic designer and as studio musician. And this is where he met four young men from Liverpool who a little later would transform the world. Apart from Hamburg, life took Klaus Voormann to Los Angeles where he spent eight years of his life before it took him back to Germany.
